I was looking for a calm painting experience and did not intentionally set out to create a portrait.

Intuitive layered approach and this woman emerged. Her hair blowing with the wind and her face trying to remain calm and composed as circumstance could encompass her. This for me was my tussle with borders and trying to navigate the restrictions that threatened to detach me from family. Painting was a beautiful escape.
